The spider stand is one of the best exercises to develop static core strength. As static core strength is one the most important characteristics of mountain biking or any type of cycling for that matter, this exercise just hast be part of your training program.

Don't be fooled, it's not an easy exercise to do. You might not get it right on your first attempt but keep working at it until you get it right.

When you crawl forward with your hands try to crawl as far forward as you humanly can. A tip, do this exercise on a carpet to prevent you from slipping. More grip will also allow you to crawl further forward.

The exercise targets the complete core section including front, back and middel. Secondary targets include legs, arms and shoulders.

CAUTION - Do not attempt this exercise if you have any history of back problems.
